hi doc i want to ask if aneamia has to do with HIV because when i was pregnant i was told that i am anaemic so i"m confused because my HIV results are negative .the reason i" m asking is because they say you can still test negative while you are positive bcos HIV can hide . sorry for being long

DOCNICOLA replied to anonymous at 8:18 p.m.
Anaemia can affect any woman, even if you are HIV negative. Remember to go for an HIV test every 12 weeks (3 months) whicle pregnant. You will also be offered another HIV test in labour. You also should have an HIV test every 3 months while breastfeeding.

If you want to stop breastfeeding, then you should wean the baby over about 4 weeks. Reduce the number of breastfeeds slowly day by day, replacing them with formula.
ma vee asked at 8:13 p.m.

im three mnths prg why my back so painful?

DOCNICOLA replied to ma vee at 8:15 p.m.
When you are pregnant your body produces many hormones,Some of these help your body prepare for birth. One hormone, called relaxin, makes the joints between your bones become softer and more stretchy, so you would be able to have a baby! Onw of the side-effects that many women experience is back pain. Try to ask someone to give you a back rub. If the pain is very bad, please go for a check-up at your antenatal clinic as soon as possible.

You should always tell the nurses in the labour ward about your status so that they give the correct treatment to your baby. You can ask to speak to the nurse in private.

DOCNICOLA replied to mom to be at 8:11 p.m.
Breastfeeding is a safe option even if you are HIV positive, as long as it is exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months and you take your ARVs on time every day and go for all your check-ups.

Doc if u want to have sex is your first time it is hurt or what

DOCNICOLA replied to Andronica {: Nicki Barbie Gal :} at 8:33 p.m.
It can be a little sore for some people the first time. Remember to always use condoms, and if you don't want to fall pregnant, you should also be on the pill or use the injection or implant. You and your partner should both go for an HIV test before you have sex.
anonymous asked at 8:07 p.m.

In how mny months does i go 2 sonar

DOCNICOLA replied to anonymous at 8:29 p.m.
You can have a sonar at any time in your pregnancy. A sonar before 24 weeks is more accurate to work out the baby's exact age. A sonar after 20 weeks is more likely to show the baby's sex

Doc i want to know more about being sterrile because my boyfriend looks like he is sterrile

DOCNICOLA replied to anonymous at 8:21 p.m.
You can only know if someone is sterile if they have had a test. Your boyfriends semen (sperm) would have to be tested at a priuvate doctor to know for sure. You cannot tell if someone is sterile by looking at them.
