Good-time girlfriend

I dated this guy by the name Teboho and we had a great time together. He loved me (or so he told me) but he forgot to tell me that he had a girlfriend. We used to meet up at his place and have sex.

But the one day we finished having sex and looked down- to find the condom had burst. He told me to ignore it – that it would be okay. We argued a lot. That month I missed my period. I told him and he told me to go and buy a pregnancy test. I did. And when it tested positive I couldn’t believe it. I called him and told him. Guess what? He was very surprised. I asked him what I should do, and he told me ‘let’s keep the baby.’ But a few weeks later he changed his mind. He called me and said it would be a better idea to have an abortion. He told me his girlfriend is pregnant too!

I hated him then. I decided to keep the baby for myself. He said he wanted nothing to do with me. The worst thing was that he changed his phone number so I couldn’t even call him. My friends were all there for me and I managed to get along without him. I gave birth to my baby boy. He is now 5 months old. I still haven’t heard a word from Teboho and I don’t know how to find him. Just like that, he was gone.

Denying a child does not mean you are not responsible! The father has to share all the costs and the responsibility with you. Know your rights and you can get help. The courts can help you find him and claim child support.
