What to expect at the clinic

It's important that you visit the antenatal clinic as soon as you know you are pregnant. If you think you may be pregnant but are not sure, you should visit the clinic to find out. Healthcare staff will be able to spot any problems early on and refer you to a hospital if this is what you need.

Low-risk pregnancies are when everything is going smoothly. These can be taken care of at your local clinic. But if you have a high-risk pregnancy, your baby may need to be born at a hospital.

You'll need to find out about this early on, especially if you are also HIV+. Do you know your status yet? Find out now. It will affect your baby as much as it affects you.
