What is polio?

The polio virus causes a highly contagious disease. You can catch it through contaminated food or water and it is more common in areas where sanitation and hygiene are poor. There is no cure and that is why vaccinations are so important. The disease can go undetected, but some people can get an acute version which can cause you to lose function in your limbs.

Who should be vaccinated?

All babies need to be vaccinated against polio four times. They start at six weeks and end at 18 months. Your clinic will advise you when to come.

Make sure your baby gets all her vaccinations at the clinic. They are important for her health.
