Cheese and lentil dinner

From 7 months of age you can start to give your baby a bigger variety of foods. Your baby's food should still be smooth, but you can start to make it a little thicker and lumpier. From 8 months you can give your baby mashed food which will help to teach him to chew.

Cheesy lentil dish

2 tbsp red lentils
250ml water
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp grated cheese

Put the lentils, water and vegetables in a small pot. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, until the lentils are mushy. Add a bit more water and continue cooking if necessary.

Stir in the grated cheese. Puree or mash. Add a bit of baby's milk if you want it to be thinner. Serve lukewarm.

Lentils are very good for babies as they are full of protein and iron and babies love the texture. This dish also contains fibre and Vitamin A. You can store it for 24 hours in the fridge.
